چکیده
Abstract Background Vector control is an essential component in prevention and of malaria endemic areas. Insecticide treated nets one the standard tools recommended for vector control. The objective study was to determine physical integrity insecticidal potency long-lasting (LLINs) used Kirinyaga County, Kenya. Method targeted households area which had received LLINs during mass net distribution 2016 from Ministry Health. A total 420 were sampled using systematic sampling method, where household heads consented participate study. semi-structured questionnaire administered assess care use while examination integrity. Chemical concentration determined by gas chromatography spectroscopy (GC-MS). Data analysis done Statistical Package Social Sciences (SPSS) version 19. Results After 18 months use, 96.9% (95% CI: 95.2–98.6%) distributed still available. Regarding utilization, 94.1% reported sleeping under LLIN previous night. examination, 49.9% 43–52.8%) bed at least hole. median number holes any size 2[interquartile range (IQR) 1–4], most located on lower part nets, [median 3 (IQR 2–5)]. However, success of this community based intervention largely depends on the knowledge and practice regarding malaria and its prevention. According to the national strategy plan on evaluation of LLINs (Olyset nets), this study was conducted to determine the perceptions and practices abo...

BACKGROUND & OBJECTIVES Zooprophylaxis is a strategy that can control malaria by attracting mosquitoes to domestic animals that act as dead-end hosts. The objective of this study was to establish the effects of zooprophylaxis and long-lasting insecticidal nets (LLINs) on malaria transmission in an agro-based ecosystem with seasonal transmission. METHODS The mosquito samples were collected ind...
متن کاملLaboratory and semi-field evaluation of long-lasting insecticidal nets against leishmaniasis vector, Phlebotomus (Phlebotomus) duboscqi in Kenya.

The objective of this study was to determine the efficacy of Olyset Net and PermaNet LLINs alongside a local brand, K-O Tab treated net (Supanet) against Phlebotomus duboscqi female sandflie...
متن کاملFactors Associated with Coverage and Usage of Long-Lasting Insecticidal Nets in Madagascar
In October 2007, long-lasting insecticidal nets (LLINs) were distributed in 59 of the 111 districts in Madagascar as part of a nationwide child survival campaign. A community-based cross-sectional survey was conducted six months post-campaign to evaluate net ownership, use and equity. Here, we examined the effects of socioeconomic factors on LLIN ownership and usage in districts with and withou...
